Grace is not an Excuse to Sin

Romans 6:1-2 King James Version

1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

God promises that once we receive Salvation through Jesus Christ, we are eternally secured in Heaven.

John 10:28-29 King James Version

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

This is why we believe in the doctrine of Once Saved Always Save and Save by Grace Alone through Faith Alone in Jesus Christ, but this does not give us the license to freely sin.

Ephesians 4:22-30 King James Version

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil.

28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

We are sealed until the day of redemption but we are commanded to not grieve the holy Spirit of God by sinning. As we read in Galatians that God still punishes sin

Galatians 6:7 King James Version

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

And if we are saved, we become a child of God and like a good Father, when we sin, we receive chastisement from Him.

Hebrews 12:6-7 King James Version

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

And if we persist on sinning and not living spiritually and according to His Will, then God will appoint our time to meet Him much sooner (it means we die sooner).

John 15:5-6 King James Version

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

This does not mean that person will go to the fires of hell, since that person is a member of the body of Christ (verse made an analogy: Jesus as vine, saved person as branches), that person is still save, the fire mentioned is about the Judgement Seat of Christ and the one being burned are our works leaving little to no rewards in Heaven.

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 King James Version

13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Paul gave an account of a saved brethren who sinned but never repented.

1 Corinthians 5:1-5 King James Version

1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

But what about the loss sinners? God still gives grace and long-suffering towards loss sinners

Romans 9:15-16 King James Version

15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2 Peter 3:9 King James Version

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

This is why God sometimes withheld the punishment of sin (Gen 3:6, Ecc 8:11) in order to give that person time to get saved and repent, which is why loss sinners will be given more grace than a saved sinner.

Romans 5:20 King James Version

“Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:”

══════════════════

God can give grace, sometimes more abundantly than we deserve but it is still not an excuse to sin, God will still punish sin whether loss or saved sinner in their due time.

Hope this may be a blessing to the readers.
