Lamentations 3:22-23 King James Version
22 It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
One of the attributes of God is His Mercy. What is God’s Mercy? It is when we deserve punishment for our sins and damnation in hell but instead we receive grace. We see a lot of examples in the Bible where God withhold His punishment for His mercy’s sake such as Adam and Eve, instead of letting them both die in their sins on the day they ate the forbidden fruit, God made an atonement for their sins by sacrificing a Lamb in their stead and use its skin to clothe them. God withheld His Judgement during Noah’s time for 120 years to give the people time to repent. Also the many times God showed mercy on Israel during her captivity to different nations, kingdoms and empires.
We see in the Bible how God’s Mercy is described in a Parable
Matthew 18:23-27 King James Version
23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
God will have mercy on whom He will have mercy and He will have compassion on whom He will have compassion as said in Romans 9:15. When we are granted God’s mercy, we are expected to do the same to other people unlike the servant in the parable as we continue to read, or else God will judge and punish us.
Matthew 18:28-35 King James Version
28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Why does God have Mercy on all of us? It is because His Mercy is rooted in Love, for God is Love.
1 John 4:8-10 King James Version
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Without God’s Mercy we will not have Salvation through Grace by Faith on Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8)
Great is the Mercy of God that He made His Son bore our sins and be sins for us so that we can have Salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ because of His love toward us.
2 Corinthians 5:21 King James Version
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

Ephesians 2:4-5 King James Version
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
