Narrow is the way which leads to Eternal Life

Updated: Mar 12, 2023

Matthew 7:13-14 King James Version

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

As Saved Bible Believer, we know that there is only one way to get saved and be eternally secured in Heaven in this Church Age and that is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, specifically after hearing the Saving Gospel: (1) Admit that you’re a sinner. (2) Believe that Jesus Christ is God, who, died, buried and resurrected, who shed His blood for the atonement of our sins. (3) Confess to Him to be your Lord and Saviour.

God wants all men to be saved

1 Timothy 2:3-4 King James Version

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

God does not delight when a sinner goes to hell

Ezekiel 18:32 King James Version

“For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.”

God sacrificed His only begotten Son for the atonement of our sins

John 3:16 King James Version

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Even though God desires everybody to be saved and did everything to make Salvation simple, easy to attain and extended to every people in this Church Age, why is it as per Matthew 7:14 says “few there be that find it”, why are a lot of people not getting saved?

There are Three Reason why people are not getting saved.

1. Because they don’t want to

Matthew 22:1-14 King James Version

1And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

God invites us all to Salvation through the Gospel, but because of either their unbelief, indifference, distracted by worldly pleasure or want to keep their sins, that they have refused to accept the invitation.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14

13But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

14Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2. Because they believe in their selves and their good works

Matthew 7:21-23 King James Version

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity

Man cannot save himself, if he can then why Jesus died for us? If man said that he is saved by good works then he is asking to judge his righteousness with God’s perfect righteousness, and there will be no surprise that he will fail to stand at the God’s Great White Throne. God already provided the perfect sacrifice for our sins, it is through Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:8 King James Version

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

3. Because of false beliefs and doctrines

2 Timothy 4:3-4 King James Version

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

There are many false preachers, false prophets that enticed people to believe in another way to be saved which are not supported in what the Bible says, one of the false doctrine being spread by Calvinist is TULIP where God chooses someone to be save and not the willingness and own free choice of man to be saved. Some religions offer Salvation by just being a member of their church or religion or giving tithes. Catholicism provides forgiveness of sin by confessing it to the priest.

Only Jesus Christ can act as a mediator between man and God!

1 Timothy 2:5 King James Version

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"

Why narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life? Because Jesus Christ is the only way!
