1 Peter 2:11 King James Version
"Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;"
Ever since you and I have gotten save, there is a war that is raging on against our soul, not just against the devil and not the just against the world but something close to home, it is against our own flesh! Ever since the fall of man, our flesh is in constant struggle with the Holy Spirit because of the corruption of sin.
Living in the flesh can never please God.
Romans 8:5-8 King James Version
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
As a saved believer we believe that when we’ve gotten save that we now possessed two natures, the old and the new, and these two are in constant battle.
Galatians 5:17 King James Version
"For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."
The old nature is still there and it is still wicked and God commands us to put off our old man and put on the new man.
Ephesians 4:22-24 King James Version
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Yes the flesh or the old man can still sin, but because we are saved the sin is not imputed on our soul, when we sin, the sin stays in the flesh and not on our soul. So there is a circumcision between the flesh and the soul, so the soul can never sin anymore.
Romans 7:24-25 King James Version
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

In order to gain victory over our flesh, we must walk and live in the Spirit
Galatians 5:24-26 King James Version
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Galatians 5:16 King James Version
"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

In order to not fulfil the lust of the flesh, we must not love the world.
1 John 2:15-16 King James Version
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And we must be careful what media we consume.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 King James Version
“Abstain from all appearance of evil.”
Even if we are fighting this battle, know that when we are saved that we have already won the war, because in the end when we go to be with the Lord we are going to be transformed, our old flesh to a glorious body, one without sin
1 Corinthians 15:52-53 King James Version
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1 John 3:2 King James Version
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
But for the meantime we must fight the good fight and keep the faith just as Apostle Paul did.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 King James Version
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:"
